We arrived at Evaristo a few days earlier to shelter from the wind. It blew up to 30 knots yesterday keeping us locked down in the boat. Today we went on an adventure. At about 9am we called up Tim and Robin on Nani Ola to see if they wanted to join us on a walk. They said yes and we agreed on 30 minutes. Emily and I heard about a trail rising off a […]

We left El Cardonal on Isla Partida in the morning with flat water. As we picked up are anchor Tim and Robin of Nani Ola came up on their tender. Nani Ola was the boat I help into the anchorage the night before. TIm and Robin thanked us again while asking where we were headed. We mentioned a couple of spots. They suggested we go to Evaristio, which is just across from where we were […]

We started up the engine at 8 am after over a month in La Paz to head to somewhere new. Even if our parts would arrive it was going to take some time as DHL seemed to have them on a terminal hold in Ohio since the 18th of February. It seemed a better idea to just go explore new locations while we waited.

LEAVING LA PAZ Sometimes we wonder if we’re on the right road in life and then little things pop up that say “yes, you are”. There is this little stirring of impatience that occurs when we’ve been sitting somewhere for too long. We both experience this whether we are on land or sea. For most, this is called a vacation. Becoming cruisers it is called a lifestyle. There are many boaters who get to a […]

Today was a success in one way, I finished the hydronic heat exchanger between the engine and the water heater. When switching the heater tubes changed over I was thinking I would be spilling a good amount of radiator fluid. I avoided this by taking a pair of long nose vise grips, taping the teeth, then using it as a clamp to shut off the flow while moving them over. It worked. I think the […]

After the fun of the previous evening, we took today to get to work on some long overdue projects. These projects were long overdue mostly because we needed parts from Amazon. I could begin to install the fixes now that parts had arrived. The main project was to get the hydronic loop set up for the water tank. The way this works is when the engine heats up, the hot water tank can use the […]

We spent the evening hours sitting in the cockpit of Red Witch talking ideas. There were the usual suspects, Jason, Sheya, and Falcon (their six week old son), Matt from the catamaran Nabu, and Emily and I. The conversation flowed smoothly from subject to subject. It was amazing. Have you considered the true blessings of human interaction. Here were six individuals inhabiting a space of may 48 square feet having discussions ranging from world politics […]

Emily and I made the trip down to Makara with the intention of going out sailing for a few days. This is a normal and expected desire of every sailboat owner, yet it never fails a clever set of factors will conspire to persuade you not to go. This time was no different. We arrived in good time to our marina in Channel Islands Harbor. The day before leaving we received from Renogy a replacement […]
